of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary
to the Incorporated, Candidates in Probation, Associates
and Friends of the Eudist Family
Dear brothers and sisters,
We, the members of the 65th General Assembly send you our brotherly greetings and thank you for the prayer and the spiritual support you constantly gave us during our gathering in Fusagasuga, Colombia. During this Assembly, after having celebrated the memory of Fr. Michel Gerard, called to the eternal presence of God last March 2011, we elected a new General Council. It is composed of the following:
Superior General: Fr. Camilo Bernal
Vicar General: Fr. Luc Crepy
General Councilors: Fr. Gilles Ouellet & Fr. Carlos Álvarez
They all accepted to serve in the position they were asked to fulfill for the next five years.
In the name of the whole Congregation we thank the Eudist Fathers Jean Camus, Ramon Rivas, John Howard, Pierre Yves Pecqueux and Raymond Vaillancourt, members of the past General Council for their availability and we extend our gratefulness to the Provincial Superiors and our confreres of the Provinces of Colombia and of the Minuto de Dios for all they did for our Assembly to take place and to be a success.
Illuminated by the Holy Spirit that impels our fascination for Jesus, sparks the fire of love for Christ and Mary in us, and creates in us the fidelity to the charisms we inherited from Saint John Eudes, we want to send to all of you a message of hope, of joy and of enthusiasm. We invite every one of you to look for new paths in your work of evangelization, formation of good laborers of the Gospel and in your work of compassion. This is the continuous challenge the Church and the world pose for us.
We are called to work for this mission in unity and solidarity as members of a large spiritual family. We want to stand for who we are: an International missionary Congregation, in order to respond to its vocation to shoulder and take on the responsibilities of Provincial or interprovincial projects with generosity and availability.
To serve as guideline and action plan we gave the General Council specifications, for the team to enliven our pastoral and community commitments during the next five years. We are fully aware that these tasks will not be possible without the personal and economic support of each and every one of us, according to our Legislation.
We are a Little Congregation, but we look at the future with hope taking into account the commitments we all have acquired and the number of candidates who want to give themselves to our family.
Let us ask God to send to this Little Congregation the Love of His Spirit and to give to us all abundant blessings during this year we are beginning together.
CORDE MAGNO ET ANIMO VOLENTI!
